Saying "YES!"

Lately I've found myself thinking a lot about that scene from A Christmas Carol when Scrooge's younger sister, Fan, runs into the room and says "They said yes, Ebeneezer! Yes, yes, yes!" Fan is referring to her father's decision to bring Ebeneezer Scrooge home for the holidays and she is bursting with glee at the news.

Despite the decorations that have popped up in the mall, we are nowhere near the start of the holiday season. So why is this memory playing itself on repeat in my brain?

Granted, I played the "Ghost of Christmas Present" for two years running - 6 week run, 10-12 shows a week - but that's a story for another time.

The truth is, I love the abandonment with which Fan runs into the room and shouts the words "They said YES!" It got me thinking - when was the last time I was so invigorated by an idea, so assured of my convictions that I shouted "YES!" at the top of my lungs?

What if we made business and marketing decisions based on this idea? What if we pursued only those endeavors and ideas that excited us to the core of our being? Rather than a simple, "yeah, that could work," why not try a "YES!" shouted from a mountaintop.

In A Christmas Carol, such a moment changed Scrooge's whole outlook on life.

Imagine if we were to do the same.
