#AtoZBlogChallenge: H is for Hippo

I'm on the road today - headed back to work on the West Coast for a few days - so I thought I'd stick with my recent East African theme and share a little ditty about Hippos.

African-London Trip -- June-July 2007 089_1.jpg

My parents used to sing this song to me as a kid. I have no idea where it comes from but the song was sung to my father by his father and in turn my father sung it to me and my sister.

The Hippo Song

Mud, mud, glorious mud

Nothing quite like it for soothing the blood

So follow me, follow me

Down to the hollow

And there we will wallow

In mud, glorious mud
